Quinceaños is for a Latina's fifteenth birthday celebration. The term Quinceañera is given to the celebrant. Quinceanos is equivalent to fifteen years old in English. The celebration highlights God, family, friends, music, food, and dance. This kind of special celebration is similar to the Sweet Sixteen of the Americans, the cotillion of debutantes and a lot more variations between different cultures. I heard one commentary saying that even a Quinceanos can be more extravagant than a wedding. This is how proud Latino parents show their utmost care to their daughters. Wait, how about sons? Well this is not a boy's thing, so never mind.

Personal Input: Spending much on a celebration like this is not bad as long as it is within the family's financial capacity. It is worthwhile to do this kind of thing for daughters because it will always remain in their memories for a lifetime.
